“Never make predictions, especially about the future.” ~ Casey Stengel
The 2022 MLB season begins tomorrow, April 7th. This is one week later than originally planned, as opening day was supposed to be March 31st. Overall not a bad delay after the Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiations and all it’s nonsense. But for now, let’s put the negative vibes off to the side and rejoice for our new beginning.
It is traditional for sports writers and bloggers to make predictions on teams; so, who am I to break with tradition? Here are my picks.

My other predictions: I think strike outs unfortunately will remain too high for my taste, the new rule changes will be mostly met with disgust, commissioner of MLB Rob Manfred will again be an embarrassment to the sport, and attendance numbers will be fine. It will be a great season.
I also predict, sunny days and pleasant nights of pure joy. Baseball will once again warm our hearts, fill the spring, summer, and early fall with excitement, with perhaps some disappointments along the way as well. Baseball will conjure up memories of seasons past and add new moments to our personal index. Baseball will be families at the park, missing deceased family members that shared and loved the game, daily box scores and always the promise of tomorrow.
I can’t wait!
